“6 days of silence”? What a strange name for a blog title.

Alana and Mark’s was a great wedding, with a fantastic couple all highlighted by a wonderful speech by the new “Mr.” It was an opportunity too good to pass up.

Enjoy the story of their day…

If you’d like to leave a message for Alana & Mark or have any comments at all please feel free :)

15 Dec 2009 Matt & Kim | Deux Belettes wedding
 |  Category: teasers, video, weddings  | Tags: , , , ,  | 3 Comments

For Matt & Kim’s stylish wedding, which was our last of 2009, I had the opportunity to shoot in what is now undoubtedly one my favourite locations.

I’d heard lots of great things over this past 12 months from various people about the magnificent Deux Belettes so it was wonderful to finally visit there. It is just stunning. About 30 minutes out of Byron Bay, private, secluded, tranquil, and features amazing architecture and just gorgeous grounds throughout. I’m afraid I just don’t have enough superlatives to do it justice! Sharon, Ross & Sven are wonderfully warm hosts too which brings the whole package together.

After some relaxed, fun preparations Matt & Kim were married in a beautifully intimate ceremony officiated by celebrant Irena Kirpichnikova amongst close friends and family. This was followed by canapés, congratulations and photography around the grounds and then a massive marquee party well into the evening - all seamlessly coordinated by Hayley from Divinity Byron Bay. The reception speeches had everything and were humourous, touching & memorable.

It was also another great opportunity to shoot with good friend Justin from Bushturkey studios (who also just happens to be one of Australia’s finest photographers) .

Enjoy this little 90 second ‘teaser’ from their day featuring some of the best moments. If you would like to leave a message for Matt & Kim or any comment at all, just click the ‘leave a comment link’ above.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic new year. I’ve enjoyed sharing some work in 2009 and looking forward to sharing more gorgeous moments from amazing weddings through 2010.

P.S. A little inside joke for M & K: “Now…if there was a shop that sold Bride and Grooms…”

28 Jul 2009 Aleisha & Jens | Mullumbimby wedding
 |  Category: teasers, video, weddings  | Tags: , , , ,  | 3 Comments

Wonderfully expressive couple, some quick spinning wedding bands (thanks boys ;) ) and a 30 year old bottle of Scotch…does it get any better? Just 3 aspects from Aleisha & Jens’ wedding over the weekend.

Jens’ Dad bought a bottle of scotch on the day Jens was born, gave it to him on his 21st birthday and along with his groomsmen Jens opened it on his wedding day. I think it did it was ‘mission accomplished’ with the calming of the nerves.

After preparations in Ocean Shores and Brunswick Heads, A & J were married in an intimate ceremony at St. Martin’s Church in Mullumbimby over the weekend on a simply perfect Winter’s day.

After exchanging vows (including a very keen pre-emptive “I do” from Jens), we had some time afterwards to get some footage and photos at a few stunning locations - Ewingsdale, The Pass and Lighthouse @ Byron Bay before heading into the Byron Surf Club for a great reception. A fantastic wedding all around with so many great moments.

I’ve used a very worthy portion of Aleisha’s beautiful speech to her new husband to narrate this teaser…

They’ve also chosen to include a magic moments clip which I cannot wait to put together knowing the amazing footage and moments that I have. It’ll be online in a couple of weeks so make sure you check back!

Have a great, relaxing honeymoon guys and I look forward to hearing all about it.

As always, comments welcome!

P.S. I actually think the Scotch was 28 years old, but 30 sounds sooo much better…

21 Apr 2009 Gina & Harry | Magic Moments

The magic moments clip we offer is something that’s becoming more and more popular with our couples when they see the power of what can be done. All of our packages include both full and highlight versions, but these clips are an added way of showcasing the day in a unique way.

A carefully chosen soundtrack is blended with the most emotive moments of the day - both visual + audio. Speeches, vows + readings are used as narrative tools to draw the viewer into the story and add another level of depth, meaning + experience. There’s usually a few light-hearted moments included too..!

Without further ado, here’s the magic moments clip from Gina & Harry’s wedding…

As always, comments welcome!

2 completely different weddings at the Byron Bay Surf Club just days apart from each other…

I had the honour over last weekend to capture Mark & Jo’s wedding. After preparing at Raes at Watego’s, Jo arrived fashionably late in a stretch Hummer - certainly got some looks from the locals!

It was a wonderful, emotional & quite quirky ceremony, with family members reading “I wanna be yours” by John Cooper Clarker (including Ford Cortina mention :D ) and also “The Owl & the pussycat”. Definitely both firsts for me!

I always find that each wedding has its own little piece of ‘magic’ that happens throughout the day but this day had more than its fair share…The weather was very close to turning ugly all day, going from bright sunshine one minute to dark cloud cover the next. Somehow it held off for every single important moment, with the heavens only deciding to open after the reception was well under way.

This is a video blog, but I can’t resist posting a few frame grabs from the footage…

Oh, to know what Jo had just said to Mark here:

A pic of the hummer up near the lighthouse:

And some amazing rays of light looking back towards Byron from the lighthouse:

Congratulations guys on a great day - I’ll have a short ‘ teaser’ online over the next couple of days

Jewish wedding are something I always enjoy. The deep religious histories and the many, many traditions & rituals that go into them are something special. That’s not to mention the intense partying at the reception!

Gina & Harry held their wedding at the Byron Bay surf club underneath a traditional chuppah - I’m not sure if it was a first for the surf club having a Jewish wedding there, but it was certainly a first for me!

After the ceremony, there was a quick stop at Ewingsdale for some photos, followed by the reception at Mullumbimby.

Here’s a short ‘teaser’ put together for their wedding - if this doesn’t whet the appetite for the finished product, nothing will!

P.S. In one of the closing shots of Gina, she’s performing on stage with the amazing Lisa Hunt (and she held her own just quietly!) :D
