24 Jun 2009 Mel & Nic | Maleny wedding

What a gorgeous wedding this past weekend up in Maleny with Mel & Nic…and although the weather was a little temperamental it definitely didn’t dampen the spirits of the celebrations.

They were married at the beautiful Maleny Manor in the Sunshine Coast hinterland - a location that’s perfect so everything took place there - from preparations through to the reception.

In a nice personal touch, Mel wore her mother’s dress from her own wedding 27 years ago which was quite emotional, particularly for her parents.

They exchanged intimate vows safely undercover overlooking some amazing hinterland scenery. Nic was very happy to make it through the ceremony - apart from the raindrop that co-incidentally landed right in his eye ;)

In between a little light intermittent rain, we had the opportunity for a beautiful photo+video shoot of them sharing some special moments together and then the partae began..!

Here’s a brief teaser for their wedding. I’ve used a small selection of Mel’s beautiful words to Nic in her speech as a narrative. As always - feel free to leave a comment. They’re very welcome!

16 Jun 2009 Brett & Haylee | Brisbane wedding

I had the pleasure over the weekend of filming Brett and Haylee’s Brisbane wedding.

Brett prepared with his groomsmen at the family home he’d grown up in. My personal highlight? A little impromptu dialogue from a favourite movie of mine. Below is the interaction while Brett was fixing his tie…can you pick the flick?

Best man Mike: “It’s all in the hips, it’s all in the hips…”

Brett: “Get off of me!”

Mike: “Just easing the tension, baby…just easing the tension”

Brett’s brother Matt: “Well ease it on someone else!”

Just love it.

Meanwhile, Haylee was preparing at the beautiful Stamford Plaza in the city, with lots of help from her very eager nieces!

The were married in Brisbane’s stunning St. John’s Cathedral. According to their website, “one of the most significant buildings in Australia” - a claim well and truly backed up once experienced in person. Featuring high ceilings and stained glass windows throwing all sorts of amazing colours around, it was one of the most breathtaking churches I’ve ever had the pleasure of filming in.

After exchanging promises (and Brett just holding it together…), there were a few stops for photography near the church and then also at the Powerhouse museum - gorgeous locations made even better by a great bridal party.

The reception celebrations were held at Customs House - yet another amazing spot. Hilarious, touching & emotional speeches were made and a great party atmosphere extended well into the evening.

There were so many great moments, it was quite a challenge to trim this down to just a short teaser, so in the end I decided to edit it together a little differently. See if you can pick what the theme is…

Congratulations on a great wedding Brett and Haylee and thanks for choosing me to be a part of your day.

A huge thank you to Stephen Henry photography for his help both on the day and also since.

15 Jun 2009 Love story | special promotion
 |  Category: promotions  | Tags: ,  | 3 Comments

Something very exciting to announce with this post (actually a couple of things) :)

We’re giving away 2 (yes 2!) love story shoots worth $500 each! Completely obligation free* (sorry - no bonus steak knives to give away though.)

For those that haven’t seen them before, our love stories are a chance to get out and have some fun shooting prior to the wedding, and at the same time tell your story. It’s a priceless archive to have not only for now but for future generations to see, and something that is always treasured.

We spend a couple of hours together, having a casual chat about the 2 of you, how you met, your story, hopes for the future etc. Afterwards we shoot some footage of you with each other at chosen locations - similar to the photo shoot on the wedding day (it’s also a perfect rehearsal for the day by allowing you to get comfortable having a camera around). The footage is then edited to a chosen track, with the interviews forming the narrative of the clip.

This is not a game of skill (unless speed is a skill) - they will go to the first couples to comment below and mention this offer. As soon as the offers are taken up, the winning couples names will added to this post.

There are 2 love stories to be won, and they’ll be allocated as follows:

Love story #1 is being given away to the first couple to make a new booking that mention the offer.

Love story #2 is being given away to the first couple that hold a current booking that mention the offer (this is motivated by my personal dislike for promotions that are offered but apply ‘to new bookings only’)

This is not going to be announced anywhere else - this blog post is it - I’m thinking of it as a kind of online Easter Egg hunt (might also flush out the blog stalkers fans) ;)

To enter, simply click on the add comment link and leave a comment in the box below…The comments have to be moderated and will be approved in the order they’re received.

I’m very excited to find out who the lucky winners will be!

* Don’t you just love those asterisks? There are just a couple of conditions, but as you can probably tell by the general tone of the post, nothing too heavy…

update:

Karen & Alex have won love story #2 for their October wedding. Karen actually posted her comment 5 minutes after the promotion went live - pretty hard to beat!

Anna & Wayne have won love story #1 for their August wedding, which is in 2 short weeks. It’ll be posted on the blog after it premieres on their big day - can’t wait!

Thanks for the entries guys - I’m looking forward to putting them together.

For those of you that discovered this offer late, please check back regularly - there’s going to be a couple more specials running. To make sure you don’t miss out, you can subscribe to our blog via RSS feed (just click the funny looking thing above the ‘archives’  in the left hand column) and every time there’s a new post you’ll be notified.
