15 Dec 2009 Matt & Kim | Deux Belettes wedding
 |  Category: teasers, video, weddings  | Tags: , , , ,  | 3 Comments

For Matt & Kim’s stylish wedding, which was our last of 2009, I had the opportunity to shoot in what is now undoubtedly one my favourite locations.

I’d heard lots of great things over this past 12 months from various people about the magnificent Deux Belettes so it was wonderful to finally visit there. It is just stunning. About 30 minutes out of Byron Bay, private, secluded, tranquil, and features amazing architecture and just gorgeous grounds throughout. I’m afraid I just don’t have enough superlatives to do it justice! Sharon, Ross & Sven are wonderfully warm hosts too which brings the whole package together.

After some relaxed, fun preparations Matt & Kim were married in a beautifully intimate ceremony officiated by celebrant Irena Kirpichnikova amongst close friends and family. This was followed by canapés, congratulations and photography around the grounds and then a massive marquee party well into the evening - all seamlessly coordinated by Hayley from Divinity Byron Bay. The reception speeches had everything and were humourous, touching & memorable.

It was also another great opportunity to shoot with good friend Justin from Bushturkey studios (who also just happens to be one of Australia’s finest photographers) .

Enjoy this little 90 second ‘teaser’ from their day featuring some of the best moments. If you would like to leave a message for Matt & Kim or any comment at all, just click the ‘leave a comment link’ above.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic new year. I’ve enjoyed sharing some work in 2009 and looking forward to sharing more gorgeous moments from amazing weddings through 2010.

P.S. A little inside joke for M & K: “Now…if there was a shop that sold Bride and Grooms…”

27 Nov 2009 John & Barbara | a wedding 73 years in the making
 |  Category: magic moments, video, weddings  | Tags: , ,  | One Comment

Something very special to share with this post.

At the end of October I had the pleasure of capturing my Uncle John’s wedding to his sweetheart Barbara in Manilla, NSW (about 30 minutes out of Tamworth). He’s 73 years old  (and to think some people thought it’d never happen!)

One of the advantages of getting married later in life that I hadn’t considered is being able to include descendants and relatives in the celebrations. Barbara’s 2 bridesmaids were her daughter and granddaughter - first time I’ve ever heard of 3 generations being in a bridal party and obviously very special.

My Uncle John has always been a natural performer, so to reflect this the edit has a quirky doco feel to it, with touching moments mixed with some humourous ones.

Here are the highlights. Enjoy.

The ‘phantom’  paint on the car is a reference to the reputation he’s developed over the years at the many, many family weddings he’s attended, where bridal cars would get mysteriously ‘decorated’ by an unknown someone…

11 Nov 2009 Gemma, Grant, Will & Summer | Evans Head wedding
 |  Category: teasers, video, weddings  | Tags: , , ,  | 3 Comments

In a word this past weekend was…inspirational.

A beautiful couple of events in Evans Head. Firstly an intimate wedding with Gemma and Grant which was followed by a naming day for their beautiful kids Will & Summer. Such a special day not only to honour their relationship with each another but also to make promises for the future to their children.

They’ve chosen to include one of our popular magic moments clips for their final edit which will be posted here once completed.

In the meantime be swept away by their love with this gorgeous little teaser from the day…pinky swears.

It was the first time working with photographer James Day from 3 words in Armidale which was just a barrel of laughs. Keep an eye out for the possibility of a potentially revealing “James Day highlight reel”… ;)

26 Oct 2009 Alex & Karen | Coolangatta wedding | a love story
 |  Category: love story, promotions, video, weddings  | Tags: , , ,  | 5 Comments

Beautiful wedding in Coolangatta over the weekend with Alex & Karen. Such a natural, down to earth couple - the love & respect they have for each other and their family and friends shone through all day.

They exchanged intimate vows at the beautiful Froggie’s Beach and despite the weather threatening to turn nasty it did hold off for every key moment. Duranbah Beach was the location for a photo session - first time working with Lauren Joy photography which was great fun.

Now that their wedding has taken place, I can finally share the love story they won from our promotion a couple of months ago - a little insight into a great couple, their love and a brief look at how it all began.

This was a surprise to everyone, which screened midway through the reception for the guests and it got an amazing response. Loads of smiles, laughter and even a few tears…enjoy.

P.S. Favourite quote - Alex: “A boat’s a boat - you give a man a boat and you get the keys to his heart!”

14 Sep 2009 Jody & Ian | Kingscliff wedding
 |  Category: teasers, video, weddings  | Tags: , , ,  | 2 Comments

Beautiful wedding in stunning Kingscliff over the weekend with Jody & Ian.

The preparations, ceremony and reception were all at Pepper’s at Salt which was just a perfect location and everyone was looked after by the great team there.

After exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony officiated by Rev. Barry Dangerfield (who in a special touch had married both Ian’s parents, sister and other relatives some years earlier) we took a relaxed stroll down to the beach.

Despite some difficulty getting onto the beach due to recent storms having removed a significant amount of sand, Ian proved chivalry’s still well and truly alive by helping his damsel in distress down to the water. :)

The lighting near the water during the afternoon was just brilliant - an amazing golden hue.

I had the chance to work with photographers Kristie & Brett from NGG at the wedding for the first time which was loads of fun. Jody and Ian were very obliging with any suggestions or ideas we had and it really paid off with some beautiful imagery.

Thanks so much guys for choosing me to be a part of your day. I’m looking forward to editing something special together for you.

Here’s a gorgeous little teaser with some hints of what’s to come…

As always, comments very welcome!

Special mention must go to Ian for the killer spinning ring shots to open this one. Thanks mate! :D

02 Sep 2009 Nic & Mel | magic moments
 |  Category: magic moments, video, weddings  | Tags: , , ,  | Leave a Comment

Pretty excited about sharing this clip. It’s the magic moments from Nic & Mel’s Maleny wedding. If you missed the original blog entry for their wedding, check it out here.

Although there were many, many beautiful aspects to choose from Nic & Mel’s wedding, there were 2 that I particularly wanted to focus on to enhance and add depth to the story of their day.

The first was the fact that Mel was wearing the same dress her Mum had worn 27 years ago - quite amazing - and the second were the beautiful, heartfelt words that Nic used in his speech to his new wife. Both have been used in combination to narrate this gorgeous piece. Enjoy!

As always, comments welcome!

16 Aug 2009 Anna & Wayne | a love story
 |  Category: love story, video  | Tags: , ,  | One Comment

Russian, South African, Australian love…

We ran a promotion a few months back giving away a couple of love stories to 2 lucky couples. Well, now that Anna & Wayne’s wedding has happened, here is the first…

For those unfamiliar with these love stories, it really is quite a unique opportunity to document the story of your relationship as a couple.

Something that is priceless, not only now but for future generations. Just consider - how fantastic would it be to see & hear your parents or even grandparents tell their story in the lead up to their weddings? I have a real passion for connecting with couples, telling their stories and get a true sense of satisfaction & enjoyment out of putting these together.

We found the time in the few weeks leading up to Anna & Wayne’s day to shoot and put together their beautiful love story. The feel of this piece - the edit, titling, music and so on is a departure from ‘the norm’ but beautiful and touching nonetheless…enjoy getting to know them through their love story!

As always, comments welcome and if you have any questions about our love stories, don’t hesitate to get in contact. :)

Working with Sue and Eliza from suzephtography for the first time was a pleasure. Here’s the link to their slideshow from the wedding day

28 Jul 2009 Aleisha & Jens | Mullumbimby wedding
 |  Category: teasers, video, weddings  | Tags: , , , ,  | 3 Comments

Wonderfully expressive couple, some quick spinning wedding bands (thanks boys ;) ) and a 30 year old bottle of Scotch…does it get any better? Just 3 aspects from Aleisha & Jens’ wedding over the weekend.

Jens’ Dad bought a bottle of scotch on the day Jens was born, gave it to him on his 21st birthday and along with his groomsmen Jens opened it on his wedding day. I think it did it was ‘mission accomplished’ with the calming of the nerves.

After preparations in Ocean Shores and Brunswick Heads, A & J were married in an intimate ceremony at St. Martin’s Church in Mullumbimby over the weekend on a simply perfect Winter’s day.

After exchanging vows (including a very keen pre-emptive “I do” from Jens), we had some time afterwards to get some footage and photos at a few stunning locations - Ewingsdale, The Pass and Lighthouse @ Byron Bay before heading into the Byron Surf Club for a great reception. A fantastic wedding all around with so many great moments.

I’ve used a very worthy portion of Aleisha’s beautiful speech to her new husband to narrate this teaser…

They’ve also chosen to include a magic moments clip which I cannot wait to put together knowing the amazing footage and moments that I have. It’ll be online in a couple of weeks so make sure you check back!

Have a great, relaxing honeymoon guys and I look forward to hearing all about it.

As always, comments welcome!

P.S. I actually think the Scotch was 28 years old, but 30 sounds sooo much better…
